Entirely crafted from natural stone, our swimming pool is the centerpiece of our Charente-Maritime guesthouse. With 120 cubic meters of crystal-clear water and stunning mineral hues, it offers something for everyone: a submerged sun deck for lounging, a shallow pool for playful splashing, and a deep 2-meter section for seasoned swimmers.

Centuries of history

The story of the house dates back to 1036 when a priory was built on this very site. By 1168, it had become the Cistercian abbey of Saint Léonard des Chaumes. However, in 1559, the abbey was largely destroyed by the Huguenots of La Rochelle, and in 1610, it came under the protection of Saint Vincent de Paul. His visit is still commemorated today by a cross in our garden.

While the abbey didn’t survive the French Revolution, the house was later built upon its ruins—using stones from the millennia-old structure. Perhaps this is why the grounds still exude a sense of peace and serenity, making them a perfect place for rest and reflection. We’ll let you decide…

Start your day with a delicious, homemade breakfast—a true moment of pleasure and indulgence. We prioritize locally sourced and homemade products, including jams, yogurts, and cakes. Every morning, our fresh bread and pastries arrive straight from the excellent bakery in Dompierre-sur-Mer. Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10:00 AM. We’re also happy to accommodate special dietary needs or allergies—just let us know in advance !
